Holly Gray of Elements of Gray has been making ceramics since she made her first pinch pot in her junior year of High School and after her first slab project she knew ceramics and clay was truly her medium.
She started her advanced education at Arcadia University in Glenside PA. She transferred to the GlasgowSchool of Art , focusing on ceramic design. She graduated from the GSA in 2002 with a B.A. in ceramic design. To quote Holly:
“My pieces are very organic in shape and I find I am often inspired by nature and its textures. I enjoy pushing the limits of clay, creating thin and delicate pieces that are still functional. I find joy and calm in creating, working with my hands to shape the clay into something beautiful. Clay itself, inspires me. For centuries people have used ceramic pottery to carry water, cook and serve food, provide beauty and tell a story. I love that each piece of clay tells a story.”
