The year has barely begun and already brought us so many incredible new products. From Furniture to accessories, here is just a taste of what’s freshly “in store” from Scandinavia.
Starting with the design of the fabric, these eye-catching textiles are woven, then created in Johanna’s Finnish studio. The fact she is present throughout the entire process shows, in each items simplistic modern beauty & quality.
“Since 1989, we have been committed to honest design and a modern interpretation of Scandinavian textile traditions. We aim for fully versatile designs– suitable for contemporary and traditional environments, both timeless and relevant to the lifestyles of today. Our ready-made products are defined by the fabric itself; by its material or by its pattern.”
The best way to describe this company is whimsical! This Helsinki based company combines colorful designs with traditional manufacturing techniques and their products feature young illustrators’ art prints displayed on an everyday useful item.
“We work with talented & award winning illustrators and artists who paint, draw and paper cut wonderful patterns. We want both our patterns and products to last and keep bringing joy to your home past seasonal trends.”
Simple and classic, Lucie Kaas applies iconic designs originally created by Arne Clausen in the 1960s, to their relaunch of the ceramic earthenware in updated colors. Their original designs are just as collectible, proven in her luminous hand blasted Sansto glass vase.
“A commitment to storytelling is still what characterizes our approach to design. It is our mission to discover designers and create objects that can tell a story, whether that lies in the history of the designer, the use of materials or the shape of the object.”
Last but not least, possibly our favorite new addition to the floor is fabulous Norwegian Fjord Fiesta. Originally designed in the late 50’s & 60’s their pieces are proven timeless, and quite comfortable, too!
“We believe that timeless design is a solid environmental effort; enhanced further by the light environmental footprint we leave behind with each carefully assembled piece of furniture. To ensure the quality of our products and the working conditions of our employees we manufacture our furniture in Scandinavia. The material is chosen with great consideration to the environmental impact of each component.”
They don’t just work with classic designers, they are currently working with contemporary Scandinavian designers. “Our vision is to keep on introducing furniture from our finest designers, taking an active part in both preserving and developing the Scandinavian design heritage.”
