Marimekko Silkkikuikka Tote Bag - AS IS

Made from unbleached cotton, this bag features the Silkkikuikka pattern, which is printed in Helsinki.

Our tote bags are sewn using the whole width of the fabric, and therefore their appearance may vary slightly. Each item is unique.

This fabric was printed with natural indigo, a plant-based dye extracted from Finnish woad. It is characteristic that color will naturally soften during washes, use and light. Please store this product away from light. Avoid contact with perfume, hairspray and other chemicals.

“I was dancing with brushes,” said Maija Isola. In 1961, she spent many evenings and nights working in Marimekko’s print factory – painting in gentle, sweeping brushstrokes to the sway of music. Meter upon meter of new patterns emerged. On one of those nights, Silkkikuikka (great crested grebe), a pattern of alluring rhythm and simplicity, saw daylight.
