Designed by Alfredo Häberli, the idea behind the Essence glassware collection was to simplify the vast and sometimes confusing range of options for wine and beer glasses into a few essential, versatile glasses. The stems and bases of the glasses are identical, creating a unique sense of balance and thoughtful functionalism throughout the series. Nowadays one of Iittala's most popular glassware series, the Essence collection is also beloved within the design industry: it has won the prestigious iF Design Award and the Les Découvertes Award.
