TERESA'S TRIP TO FINLAND
Hey all, Teresa here. This week we thought we would give you a tour in pictures of my recent trip to Finland, where I met with brands and artists, saw new AW18 collections, and vetted potential new companies to carry in store. Here's a quick glimpse into the trip!
HELSINKI DESIGN MARKET
The Helsinki Design Market is an elevated maker market, featuring SO MANY desired Finnish & Nordic makers and brands. The vendors took over this old cable factory with beautiful goods. The stands extend much further than can be seen in this photograph. The selection of quality & style was almost overwhelming!
VALLILA
We were invited to breakfast at Vallila's Helsinki design center. I love that they paint their textile designs on their delivery vans. Inspiring morning, to be certain.
HABITARE INTERIOR DECORATION AND DESIGN FAIR
Above, a view of Lapuan Kakurit's stand at Habitare, the interior design trade fair. Below are Vallila & Finarte's booths. It was great to see the new collections in person. Now we patiently wait for order production and shipping from Finland. :)
FINARTE
This is the Finarte concept store celebrating Helsinki Design Week with their theme "Nordic Boudoir", located in the design district. Here I am with Larissa (right), the CEO of Finarte & Roosa (left), marketing content creator. I was honored to be invited to the Finarte concept store's opening party, featuring beautiful product new product with their "Nordic Roots" theme, dried flower installations, beverages, and so many talented people.
NIKARI
We took a day trip to Fiskars, Finland, the home of Nikari Furniture. Here is their headquarters, where all the magic happens.
SUMMER HOUSE EXHIBITION
While in Fiskars, we stopped at the Summer House exhibition, 9 rooms inspired by the summer life of artists. Each room was designed by different Finnish artists, featuring all products & accessories from Finland.
ARABIA
No visit to Helsinki is complete without a stop to the Arabia & Iittala Design Center, in the Arabianranta neighborhood.
This was an amazing and inspiring trip Finland, & above is just a small sampling of the little travel adventure. We hope to bring a slice of the Nordic lifestyle to our corner of the world. We are so excited to be able to bring in the new and beautiful Finnish designs for this autumn/winter season, and can't wait to show you the collections!
