Hello! I’m so glad you have discovered our cozy world.  

I’m Teresa Olson, owner of Olson House. This little shop is my pride & joy. Olson House was formed because I wanted to create something true to who I was and what I believed in. I am a certified Interior Designer (ASID, WRID), dreamer, animal-lover and proud Scandinavian who values supportive community and a sustainable lifestyle.

Why I Opened Olson House

I opened Olson House because I wanted to create something true to my values of social and environmental responsibility, while offering a source for timeless Nordic & local home decor, gifts, interior design services & more. I am an atmospheric designer, dreamer, animal-lover and proud Scandinavian who values supportive community and a sustainable lifestyle. Olson House is an homage to my Nordic heritage, blending the experiences gained from working as the interior designer at an architecture firm & previous interior design roles, while also working almost 2 decades at a record store, with an innate desire to make the world a more beautiful place. The partnerships & collaborations I have cultivated since opening Olson House have truly fostered my love for thoughtful design and this spectacular, supportive community. 

As a small business owner, I believe it's my responsibility & mission to give back to the local community and to support education, the environment & women's empowerment. With the help of partnerships and the hard-working team at Olson House, I strive to reflect these values in the products and services we provide, as well as through charitable support when we are able.

We are a boutique home furnishings store and interior design studio offering curated home decor, gifts and lifestyle products in Milwaukee's Shorewood neighborhood & online, on this website you've found. We are a space for local Milwaukee artists & creators to showcase their work, paired with Scandinavian products to support our dream in helping you create serenity in your life through well-designed items. We carry unique, timeless, well-made goods that not only look beautiful, but are functional and sustainable. Olson House specializes in presenting the Scandinavian aesthetic with simple lines, geometric shapes, modern yet warm tones and organic textures. We research brands, looking for things like traceable yarns, circular economy, and other ecologically responsible qualities along with design authenticity, that provide a commitment to our planet & its inhabitants in their beautiful items that will bring serenity & joy to your life.

Thoughtful Interiors

Olson House also offers professional interior design services. I believe that good design should be beautiful but also environmentally healthy. It’s my goal to go beyond just a pretty picture. I always ask, “What is this made of? Is this healthy? What's the life cycle?” and much more, while selecting the product for our store and with my interior design clients.
