Alphonse La Paglia (1907–1953) was an Italian-born American silversmith renowned for his collaboration with Georg Jensen USA. He studied silversmithing under Georg Jensen in Denmark before immigrating to the United States in the early 1940s. Settling in New Jersey, La Paglia began designing and crafting jewelry for Frederick Lunning's Georg Jensen USA Inc., producing pieces that reflected the Jensen style when it was difficult for the US to get silver from Europe. In 1952, he established the International Sterling Craft Associates. There, he created modernist, Danish-inspired hollowware and jewelry retailed by International Silver.
This beautiful cast sterling silver midcentury brooch is a beautiful three dimensional La Paglia design, and is stamped "International Sterling" & "LaPaglia Designed 219". It is in great vintage condition, with original tarnish.
