Guido Peter Brink originally from Germany was a midwestern American and international artist and educator. Brink was renowned for his metal sculptures and paintings as well as the founding of the Milwaukee Institute of Arts and Design. In 1953 the Brinks settled in Milwaukee where his wife, Ello, worked as an architectural critic for The Milwaukee Journal and Guido became a faculty member & director at the Layton School of Art, where he remained until its closing in 1974. Guido Brink was one of 7 faculty members in 1974, from Layton, to found Milwaukee School of the Arts later to become the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design (MIAD). Brink was Milwaukee School of the Arts’ first President.
This gorgeous midcentury sculpture is a rare find, and a piece of Milwaukee history It measures approx. 11" high, x 8" wide. It has the original oxidation/tarnish from age. It has the remnants of the original sticker on the bottom.
