San Ildefonso Pueblo pottery is most commonly characterized by the iconic black-on-black pottery style pioneered in the 1920s by potter Maria Martinez (1887-1980) and her husband, Julian Martinez (1879-1943).
This beautiful bowl features the distinctive combination of matte & gloss blackware in a classic geometric southwestern motif, and dates to the 1920's. It is unsigned,and is in good vintage condition, with some minor surface wear due to age. 4" diameter, 2" high.
